Infection Prevention And Control In COVID-19 Wards

The webinar on 3rd March 2021 focuses on infection prevention and control in COVID-19 wards.

Moderator:

Datuk Dr Christopher Lee Kwok Choong is a senior consultant infectious disease physician, president of Malaysian AIDS Council and former Deputy Director General of Health, Ministry of Health Malaysia.

Panellist for this week:

Prof. Dr. Sasheela A/p Sri La Sri Ponnampalavanar is currently a Consultant Infectious Disease Physician at the University Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) and a Professor of Medicine at University Malaya. She is currently the head of the Infection Control Department in UMMC.

She received her MBBS degree from Manipal Medical College, India in 1997. She returned to Malaysia and served in the Ministry of Health until completing her postgraduate training MMed (IntMed) at University Malaya in 2007. She then trained as an Infectious Disease specialist at University Malaya until 2010 and obtained a Certificate in Travel Health Medicine from the International Society of Travel Health Medicine in 2012.

She is a Committee Member of The National Antimicrobial Resistance Committee (NARC) , Technical Working Group 1 for The National Action Plan for AMR, National since 2017. She is a member of the Pandemic preparedness and Infection Control Coordinator of the UMMC COVID 19 task force. She is involved in developing and implementing guidelines for the management and prevention of COVID in UMMC, management of COVID patients and training and education in infection control and prevention.
